Explain the meaning of Assessment Center?
Assessment Center is not a place but a method or process designed to assess skills or potential in as comprehensive and rigorous a way as possible. A properly designed assessment center involves the assessment of groups of participants by a team of trained observers. Candidates take part in a series of specially designed exercises or activities. These may involve psychometric tests or interviews, but generally focus on situational exercises designed to resemble critical job situations as closely as possible. In this way
candidates can be rated on how they handle situations that resemble the job or job family they are being assessed for. Their performance in these situations or simulations is assessed against a set of job related skills (generally called dimensions or criteria) derived from a prior job analysis of the target job.
